This is the -- castle show Broward and charge my batteries specialists who crawl my goodness I am I apologize folks I really do. I think this is the second time I've done this Thornton or what happened. I get a list of every week of what they code words are far you know -- Christmas cash contest. And this morning if inadvertently. I got I got the list for next week and I -- they're telling myself. And you know don't get these words confused I actually had like 5:30 this morning I'm going OK and it would make sure. So I I said I'm gonna leave that list in my office. So that I won't do this. And then lo and behold the list I left in my office and the correct word for today that's just the honest truth so. I apologize I know here's Russ every time he gives the wrong word we're not on the go when correct tonight I know. Because it'll tell you you've already in -- so I. It says there can you figure out how to correct this when you make a mistake I wish I could but we don't -- controlled this. You know right here. So my bad. I made a mistake. I'm human Chris come in and beat Mir what are we gonna do and got the way enumerate here OK but again. So that you'll have the correct word at this point -- CEO -- in -- And if you haven't tried or haven't gone there yet you can go right now. News radio WORG dot com slash cash. And what it prompts you for the code word it is the word coined that. So quickly could you'll get a couple minutes of CEO I -- okay yeah how long after the top clear or does that go I believe it's ten minutes ten minutes ten minutes okay. So I apologized. To come out come out to the station and stone me I'll stand out in the rain and you can stone. -- -- on with the show for a Friday. A lot of things to talk about today. Especially locally. We were kind of touching on -- last hour so that we -- -- but you know we're right where we are. We had just a horrible night last night. -- a seventeen year old in Spartanburg. Who died. It was out trick or treating with friends. When she was struck by an issue Dee long -- would drive but their near cottonwood trail about 930 last night. They took -- Spartanburg regional and she was pronounced dead less than an hour after the crash. Andy's former public safety folks. Are investigating no charges filed to. Identified as Erica fields. She was not the only child hit by. A vehicle well walking. In trick or treating. Highway Patrol also sent a twelve year old boy. Ran out in front of a car and the driver couldn't stop and rule book. The child was injured. I can only share with you what I observed I was going through -- neighborhood last night. In the. I just. Common sense I think -- over five miles not more. Because you a little controller running everywhere. But I saw it with my own not as last night why urge people are so impatient. Even for something more Callaway and you -- energy use it to him. No actually. I was on stage last night -- alone all the trick or treating but I was wondering you said seventeen. Yes seventeen year old -- and if I mean this is obviously tragedy but seventeen is meant to old but it triggered by said the same thing this morning and we -- more information she was out with siblings was so well that -- helping them but I don't. But still it just brings back something we've talked about many times idea I just don't know why people are so notes around here. When they get behind -- wheel of car. I mean just absolute stupidity there's no other way to describe it. Now I know accidents happen. Okay Jerome across and sometimes there's nothing but what what what. What I salt. Is just people. Who were impatient. They don't have a brain. They're they're immature. Or or just just crazy. The way people drive is not just out on the major roads but in in neighborhoods. On a night like Halloween I'm surprised. I mean I'm thankful but I'm surprised there aren't more reports about this just based on what I saw. In the end. You've got another hit Enron I I got a text message from someone earlier this week Ross every time you guys do to traffic reports is it just me. Or there's is there more and more -- runs these states and I said absolutely yes. My biscuits I think there's ten times more -- runs these days. Then there was even five or ten years ago I think it's on the increase just five cents up but I don't have any figures here in front of me. So why. Same reason lot of folks are stupid. But I think. Folks now at a point. Where they just don't think you're gonna get call. They know authorities are stretched -- Like this this one and Anderson county it happened at 3:45 in the morning. Sometimes you know sternum area where they have cameras. You know maybe you can identify. And the police have their own ways investigating these sorts of things. And a lot of forensic things they can look at. But I think that you know as part of -- why. There's so many more hit and runs these days I think that's a factor and I think. That we have an increasing number of illegals in our community. Who absolutely have no regard for the law it's in their culture. If you look at Mexico for example you look at the -- figures which is something else we talked about. It's a part of the culture not only driving crazy. Ignoring law I mean why would they why would they uphold any law they are here illegally. No law subjective to them. But also as part of -- culture they don't think is anything wrong we drive and you know -- Driving drunk. So we're talking about that to you disagree Chris you're shaking your head what I -- out. I think it's giving people too much credit and that is setting the illegal issue aside I mean after the that's a factor but there are plenty of no on illegal people legally the illegals -- legal citizens that that are. -- -- you know ridiculous drivers as well I think it's giving them too much credit to call them stupid or crazy. I think I when she heard it yes I think you were I think you are much closer when you said -- -- impatient and the source of impatience is selfishness and that's. Evil well we had a -- or bring up that. I guess he was him because of economic factors. There we have a lot of people drive -- don't have insurance because they can't pay for it. We have a lot of people drive around that are afraid in a selfish yes if they're afraid they're gonna get caught and so they run they become a fugitive. We just selfish bigger the risk your -- in there yeah. But you're welcome all of your thoughts and then we had another home invasion earlier this morning. This is two mornings in a row. This morning. Greenville county deputies say it happened about 445. At a home on pine creek court. I don't know where pine creek court is maybe you do. But authorities are investigating apparently three. Masked men with guns. Got into this house on pine creek court to a sliding glass door. The homeowner heard them. Came downstairs was confronted by the men according to deputies. And then the men that were able to get away I don't know what they've told. And authorities are sure if they fled the scene in a car or on foot. But this is. Ironic because yesterday. We had three masked men invade another home agree vote counting on stage court. Deputies say right now they don't know if the two are connected to but of course. If you know anything about this. Crime stoppers 86423. Crime. So that brings up the whole. Home invasion thing what are you prepared to do that involves. -- for many guns you for me talk about it many times. And just as -- right on -- there's a new study out. Dead links racism. With gun ownership. And racism. With any opposition to gun control in white Americans. New study found higher label levels of racism. In white Americans is associated. With having a gun in the home. And greater opposition to gun control policies. One other note along these lines in the will go to the phones. I don't know how many of you. Believe in stocking up on -- How many you have -- an earlier this year you know -- When -- my own eyewitness reports it was just crazy it's calmed down a little bit now. Because everybody was stocking up but here's just to know from daily caller. In December. The final. Primary lead smelter in the United States is gonna close. It's located in her -- -- M Missouri. It's owned and operated by the doe run company they'd been in the same location since 1892. Herculean smelter is currently the only smelter in the United States. Which can produce led -- go on from -- led war. -- its mind in nearby. You know extensive blood deposits in Missouri. -- -- -- produced in herculean Missouri is and sold to lead product producers. Led some cultures where -- recycled from products like. Lead acid batteries or. You know what's left. After fired the MO that still operating in the country but don't run. They were made that they've made significant efforts they tried. To reduce lead emissions from the -- But in 2008 here comes the federal government the EPA the Environmental Protection Agency. Issuing new national ambient air quality standards. For lead and they did this were ten times higher. And the previous standard in so with this new led air quality standard. This company's made the decision to -- lose. This lead smelter in her -- indium Missouri. So you have to ask the obvious questions daily caller does whatever the EPA's motivation. When they created the new led air quality standard. Increasingly restrictive regulation of lead. Is going to affect their production and cost. A traditional MO just last month. -- -- -- California governor Jerry Brown. Signed into law a bill. That will ban live ammunition -- honing in California. They -- Center for Biological Diversity is tried multiple times. To get similar regulations at the federal level. By trying and repeatedly failing to get the EPA. To regulate conventional. Ammunition. Under something they called the toxic. Substances control act. Now right now today it's unclear if the -- it don't run or another company. Will open a new lead smelter in the United States that will try to meet the more stringent -- air quality standards. What is clear though is that after this smelter closed its its doors coming up in December. Entirely domestic manufacturer of conventional ammunition in other words from the role -- the finished. Cartridge. Will be impossible. So. If you're gonna do this weekend. I wanna just to bring that to yeah I'm not trying to create another -- on -- I'm just offering you information and you can decide on your own. You know what to do it. Right to the phones we go Ronnie in more Tyrod. Hey good morning rush good story. I just want to do -- he I've. Can't. What I all the most it around. You know I want all our industry you guys will go over. Is pretty true -- I was at the DMC. Our friend of mine had to get -- Licensed. Renewed and while Lleyton I I was talking to Lou. One of the officers there. They end. We just general conversation and I brought that same subject up because. I I like you I agree to a few you know years ago you and here we're about dished out. And down. I brought it should be kept to a local. You -- it every day on the loose about it Iran's election I asked him what it is called -- get removed. Any should glue. The biggest thing is it's it was like Ron Mercer didn't use there's so many people out there we don't know when your driver and out. You know there's so many people out there driving -- Israel relations -- without insurance should. Can I am from. Personal experience I got a stepson who would never had a great relations and there's like. And it would go out and drive. And he should not be getting a location to try to take our anger I don't know. China trying to driving what our relations. Commission this into the Kurdish fighting. And that's what the opposite eternally at the -- based. He's serious people threw him to pay a fine. It's only like -- 120 impartial if you get caught driving with our relations you know unless you have. You know do you -- -- or things like they're regarding religious bit. Here's what I don't understand its soul does he own a car. It oh he does not own -- because how would you have. Yeah that's good the DMB you got to register the car you gotta get your tags you gotta pay your taxes right you're counting taxes. And is it can you do all that -- without a driver's license. I'm. You can you can -- you can't -- exes didn't you can end. You know we do we get a car ready shouldn't somebody else's name her. Your card in your driving and scars. And and -- our -- I was six times. And all Roche -- how great he go to court you 120 all -- and a driving force. Eddie turns -- goes out there because he's figure he's probably figured up that's cheaper. There and then no pay and the taxes paid in the insurance. All of that kind of stuff that. And thought about that may be. Maybe then this could be related to the economy thank you Ron. And here's an email that agrees with Chris Ross -- drive us on the show and enforced Christian school. From the Augusta road neighborhood every day we now avoid I 85 because it's too dangerous selfishness is the problem. People used their turn signals drivers weave in and out of lanes without looking using mirrors and turn signals. They risk by chiles and my life every day for no reason. People have no concept of their actions affecting other people selfishness. Wrapped up in their own heads. Not using your turn signal is dangerous Ross I like to see those interstate billboards have reminders. To insure -- turn signals. Instead of how many minutes there are between Lawrence road and Pelham road comes from brandy we talked to Karen in -- hi Karen. You're okay you're complaining about the driver. It's I think -- my principal pedestrians sudden paying about what happened in the okay and I'm gonna stop sign. I'm going to turn criteria were. And there was some ever in nineteen right Sunday and I was gonna won't make it's -- I'm sure I didn't get -- -- not. I won't on the windows and -- -- I keep you you've got our block who they aren't. They yeah and then I hope you are that they. Well what may. Out on the yeah. And I and many Tom Menino parents aren't mobile. -- so he changed. And herb black -- you know and all your black -- belonging and why shouldn't miss I don't and somebody who don't can be cool and it's. I mean who am I mean I don't know what would then afterwards I don't know what the -- there. Well it's -- so that's a judgment call because we've we've had this literally people just step up in front of a car and their court cases where. It has been determined the driver wasn't at fault. However I won't tell you this I remember this for many many years ago in a lot of these cases. The driver. Has to assume the responsibility to be aware of everything going on around them. I mean that responsibility and that's why people need to be absolutely focused. On their driving and you don't need to be driving. You know 101520. Miles an hour over the speed limit because you never know from one seconds to the other you know what is gonna happen. And people as you know we talked about this -- people are texting. They're talking on their phones we've joked about their -- their mail. We've had calls people said you know. I see people changing clothes are putting on makeup you know -- -- rush hour traffic. I -- you have to either format and I I want -- doing any bets that are on the Oprah and everything. You walk you and your trip and I put some and that -- Cool -- and of itself. Yeah yeah I I I think I hear what you're saying that I think that's true. I guess last night was Halloween you know drugs in his neighborhood and I just you know was dark. And it because it was dark I was -- we a lot of little kids out here. -- I'm I'm not getting over five miles an hour because. I never you never know and there were people blowing -- rattle me. I'm for for holding them up and there's a Halloween when the neighborhood was entirely pull a trigger traders it's just like some people are mindless. Zombies. Are just I don't know thanks care. 926. This is the -- castle shows Howard and charge my batteries specialists -- 934. Are singles. Advantage talk -- -- just the way ally from their hands. As soon as someone has their say eight. You can grab the lining -- led to 329673. Spartanburg. 5749673. Never get a busy signal when you use that WORD. Text -- that number is 713. 07. So the headlines this morning we have seventeen year old killed in Spartanburg out -- -- tree. -- last night. We have hit and run crash killed somebody's still don't know whom about 3:45 this morning and Anderson counting. And for the second morning in a row we have an armed invade a home invasion. Three masked men storming -- home earlier this morning at 445. And we have a new study out. That links gun ownership and opposition to gun control to racism. Are some of the text messages about all of this. And Ross scholars write the fines are very low in South Carolina for unlicensed drivers. -- imagine being a truck driver out here it's ridiculous. Russ pine creek is behind the old -- on a bar against Rhode 85 they'll meet thank you. -- you notice most of the hit and runs in the Greenville area. Seem to be in the white -- road area illegals don't carry insurance or pay taxes -- said Greg in Taylor's. -- as far as agitated drivers go we've had a large influx of northerners in recent years and I've seen how they drive. At the air and they're not cordial drivers I also believe the legal issues very connected to the hit and run issue that comes from -- Morning Russ one which you know I MA racist gun owner. I will shoot any race that breaks into my house have a nice day. -- I saw the same thing you're talking about last night impatient drivers. Halloween comes once a year but I also saw kids. Actually daring cars to hit them. And they wouldn't get out of the road. So. News. I mean why -- -- so many of Enron's. In home page it's. Just have to go through that scenario. What would you do it could happen to you tonight this weekend how what where are you prepare what would you do. No luckily this homeowners. Wasn't hurt as far as we know. But that's not always the case you've got to be prepared. And then I just saw it last night I just even something like Halloween -- every day every day of my life I see this just people just driving just. I mean they've got to be the stupidest people on the face of the planet. Inevitably and 385 yesterday there -- three cars in a row I'm telling -- they had to be doing 8085 miles an hour. And they were following each other going back and forth through three and four lanes of traffic. -- -- -- -- what are they they're trying to get the downtown Greenville what are -- into jury about and the crazy thing. They get to the red light before everybody else but that's about it. So what did they accomplish. It's it's. It's just like their brain dead. Timothy Murray is in Taylor's primary. Well I and I mentioned I think in general election Akram executing and who left. Well the problem we keep score and with the clock you know -- it -- by 5:36 o'clock last night it was dark. I mean and and and enact this weekend. A lot of odd to me to one thing I did notice last night that in this neighbor and I was in that. Most people had stopped giving out candy by 7:38 o'clock. You know just cut out their lights are also a lot of people saw a lot of people. They're just set up a display in front of their house and put the candy out there. And if it got going pretty quick because that they triggered traders figured it out hey here's a mark -- and we can take as much as we want. -- it's funny how people treated differently but. I hear what you're saying when you're out there in the seventy Urals -- 930. At night. That that really is kind of crazy in the day and age in which we live I didn't -- -- what you -- -- about that. Does that in Greenville county you know the highway department and the plays for you go pay property taxes there right across the street from each other. Remember how did this recently when I was transferring some cars over in my daughter's names. And the -- there I think I always forget what you do for you go of their -- accounting -- first they give your receipt that you take it over to the DMV. 'cause they it would do what they're gonna wanna look at. Before that before you get your sticker or transfer a toddler whatever. You have to prove that you they have an insurance.
