And with the -- with the pharmaceutical companies in bed with Obama -- obamacare that's obviously true. And low and one way that they can it's I think what you said is absolutely true that if the truth be known this is all just a bow to the month the money. Thank you -- appreciated. Since he brought it up. Now there's another story here today. Policy going and bring it up now. Consumer reports. Has an article are too many kids taking. Anti psychotic drugs. This is out this month and consumer reports the number of children. Taking powerful. Anti psychotic drugs. Has nearly triple. Over the last ten to fifteen years. New research the increase comes not because. Of an epidemic. Of the schizophrenia. Or other types of serious mental illness in children. The article says but because doctors are increasingly prescribing. The drugs. To treat behavior problems. And that is not approved by the FDA. Yeah and a disproportionate. Number of these prescriptions. Are written for poor and minority children some as young as the age of two years ago. Is a stab -- what doctors are prescribing anti psychotic even though. The article says there's minimal evidence that the drugs helped kids for a approved uses much less. The unapproved ones such as behavioral problems and to make it even worse. -- the little research there is suggests that drugs can cause all kinds of troubling side effects. Including weight gain high cholesterol increase risk of type two diabetes something I know about personally. Now it says doctors can legally and commonly do write prescriptions for any medication they see fit to treated condition. But over use of anti psychotic drugs. Has become worrisome enough. That the American Psychiatric Association recently announced. That doctors should not be routinely prescribing these drugs as first line treatment to children and adolescents for any reason. Other -- psychotic disorders things like schizophrenia. Or something called -- severe tic disorders. And they're so concerned. That they chose to include this issue. As a part of something -- choosing wisely an initiative in which consumer reports. Has joined together -- -- all these national medical societies. To identify tests and treatments. To ask your doctor about. Now they make the case that anti psychotic drugs have a place in psychiatric treatment even in children and teens. Because they can help manage the oldies disabling symptoms. But for many kids taking these drugs. The benefits probably don't outweigh the risks and may have a quote here from a doctor Christopher -- RNC. He said quote -- what's not known about the long term effect is very troubling he's at tufts university's school of medicine and Boston the younger you go. The more you can affect the developing brain what's behind this all they did an investigation several things. Overly aggressive drug marketing. A lack of access to quality mental health care caught in the middle -- families who often have insufficient resources to deal with complex emotional. Psychological and behavioral problems. And because we want a quick fix. -- or a magic bullet. Then this is what happens. So let's throw that into the mix. Told what are we got study saying about vitamin supplements just a waste. And at the same time we've got consumer reports talking about big kids as youngest truth. Taking all these anti psychotic drugs and it's nearly tripled. The number of children taking these things tripled in the last ten to fifteen years. Now I know as well as I'm sitting in the studio right now somebody out there. Has just had to deal with this recently. I guarantee. And so I welcome your comment on this this is in consumer reports quick break back with -- a moment 924 now.
