This is their rust castle show our net charge my batteries specialists -- -- first folks let me get -- breaking news that we had 347000. People. Drop out of the workforce. In December. And the unemployed have been out of work for an average of 37 weeks seven point eight million folks are working part time. There are nearly three. Unemployed Americans. For every job opening. You know let me let me just -- a moment on this because people will hear this news see this news that the unemployment rate. Has dropped to six point 7% now. And they'll they'll look at bad and they won't really think about it and they'll say what else. This conservatives. You know they -- Obama they'd they'd just that when they talk about Obama they'd they'd just take him they him because he's black. They're idiots seed they unemployment rate is dropping things are getting better that's. So let me just spend a moment. And by the way welcome into the show. And if you're welcome to comment on this you're welcome to comment on this. Or anything else. That's the rule here. That it -- advantage talk lines -- to talk on the air Greenville 2329673. Spartanburg. 5749673. W or do you text line wide open 71307. I wanna give credit to CNN money. Because instead -- just spinning the story. They. Actually tell the truth about this their headline. Out moments ago. 2013. -- ends with the weakest job growth in years. Job growth slumped sharply in December. Wasn't even close to expectations. Only 74000. Jobs were added in December according to the Department of Labor. Was put this in perspective. He was the weakest month for job growth since January 2011. Came as a huge surprise to economists. They were expecting a 193000. Jobs. Based at all. So -- -- 193000. Only 74000. It was not a good Christmas season talks. The unemployment rate. Fell to six point 7%. Simply because more more people are just dropping out. More people are leaving the workforce. Try this went on for size. And show me where you think this puts us as a country only 62 point 8%. Of the adult population. Is now participating in the labor market. Which simply means. They either. Have a job. There are looking for one. 62 point 8%. Only 62 point 8% of the population. Is now in the labor market. Put that in perspective it's the lowest level. Since 1978. Whole cow. 1978. Collected 2007. One -- was under 5%. But sit in the two years after that. Obama's economy wiped out eight point seven million jobs and not to this day. We're not even close to getting back to where we were a bit. Where have all the jobs gone. And meanwhile the media still talking about Chris -- -- is on TV again. You gotta be kitten. By the way don't call about -- had a poll in the first hour nobody cares about Chris Christie except the media. This is astounding. Is just astounding. In all this week Obama and the Democrats are talking about extending unemployment benefits which basically. If you look at it really. They're just pushing yet another entitlement there it is turned and welfare. And they wanted to be around forever Harry Reid -- come up with not a three month extension but a ten month extension. Because you gotta pay your constituents to get him to vote for you I get really in them what it's all about. I I I invite anybody. I mean when you look at this the lowest level since 1978 only 62 point 8%. Of the adult population. Is now in the labor market where where's everybody gone. But meanwhile the unemployment rate falls to six point 7%. Where do you think we are what is happened. Give me your thoughts. Obama may go down will go down in history. As delay must excuse for a president when it comes to the economy than countries ever head. There's a piece this morning tell me what you think about this. Is this true or not to. Based on your life experience what you see every day. Piece this morning at American thinker dot com Americans. Living lives of quiet desperation. Written by dean. Fish. Listen to this. Many of issues to room and -- -- sometimes even joke about the old Soviet bloc. Of the fifties and sixties poorly dressed sad looking people living in tiny apartments. There were food lines cheap furniture small apartments and lots of vodka. Street sings in places like Moscow looked as if the population were in a hurry to escape both cameras in cold weather. No bright colors few smiles. It was all steeped in very hopeless but in a very hopeless buyback. No one appeared to have hope for a better life a little color something to smile about. Much of that seems to have changed with the fall of the Soviet Union at the hands of Ronald Reagan -- places and Eastern Europe. Are now livable by any western standard it's still. We remember the dole -- and that colorless cast. Of the Soviet bloc in the fifty's and sixty's so fish says it seems however. As we look around here at home. That the hopelessness and low expectations. Have invaded a good portion. Of our United States. They're true or not. A true here. There's rights Americans have lived in recession and high unemployment for the past five years. And it's beginning to show in their faces. In their body language and even in their attitudes they're tired. They are distrustful. Often with good reason. They -- politically divided. Mintier broke. And most live very carefully it appears that hope is in short supply for many. He -- look -- on this should look out on the street. There's -- sort of quiet desperation that pervades. People still laugh they go to bars or go to movies and the mall. But the national personality has changed and not for the better quiet desperate should is the way he describes it. Does that -- Gordon. He -- Americans used to be people that lived in the future there was always they were always excited. There was always excited talk about all manners of things. The space program new houses children education science current events business growing cities and suburbs. But Americans our so engrossed in their electronics. That they barely have time for each other. They don't know or trust their neighbors' taxes are so high. That those who can work more than one job or worry incessantly about keeping the one they do have. Source for the future -- now tempered by limits internal and external we have a government that's growing ever bigger and more impressive each day. So he says it's no wonder. That people. We see every day are getting smaller and smaller. Just like those eastern -- people. Who -- those drab lives run by government. He -- recently Barack Obama argued. The the now expired emergency unemployment assistance. Should be extended another three months he cited that young lady who could use the money to buy a dozen eggs and turner heat up a few degrees. Could -- have chosen any examples that sound any more like the old Soviet -- a little heat in some eggs. Is that where we are now. Subsistence and survival. Our our expectations. That low. How about creating a job in which that lady. Could take pride and -- in support her family. Dean Frisch says we need to dream big again we need to plan a glorious future for our kids. We need color and smiles we cannot lead expanding government. Make us into those pork drab people standing in line for a single loaf of dark -- When he politicians who understand this we must find them elect them and hold them accountable look around it's not too late to. Be an American. Individual again. Beltre might take on this. I don't think. At least from what I can tell. I don't think we're quite to the level of the Soviet bloc. Obviously. In the fifties and sixties but I do think we're on the way there. I think there's no question a practice I. You know as part of being a talk show host you kind of have to have a foam on the pulse of the community where you work. You kind of hear it in people's voice is yet to be a good listener. You have to kind of hear what people are trying to say try to analyze it on the spot. And I have commented on this a lot in the past couple weeks I have wondered out loud on this program. When we get into certain political issues whether people even care anymore. Frustrated about some of the big issues -- dubbed the day for example obamacare there's a lot of the news about obamacare I'm reluctant to even bring it up. Because I just I sit here and I wonder the people really even care anymore. I mean we talked about this common core for a must I Greer high school which I think is immensely important there's a good crowd they're there for 250 people. Yeah I'm here for people was -- what are you talking about this for. Why should I care about this. All of this brouhaha over Chris Christie over a local issue. And yet Obama is out there are hiring in -- point one of his cronies to investigate. There's the iris -- -- we still don't have answers on bin Ghazi we have big views on bin Ghazi. Told John never let that die. What ever happened fast and furious we got Boehner refusing. To even appoint a select committee on the gutsy. And -- bring these things up obviously -- prepare for the show immensely and I think these are really really important issues that. If times were like they should be wood up the phone lines. But I sense that people. Either they are just losing interest they're becoming I I guess the word is no -- They -- some launch day. Don't really know what to do about it many people think there's nothing that can be done about it. And so I I guess people. Maybe they care but they're just -- Because thinking about this stuff. And trying to figure it out and trying to come up with a solution and talking about it like I'm terrible personal experience. It -- times does did fatigue it. So I don't I don't think we're quite to the point. But living lives of quiet desperation. But we're we're we're on the path there. Let me say this before somebody calls and I know there -- people in our community. Who are they're all. They get up every day. And they think how am I gonna get through this. Their people and our community. Who haven't had a job and a long time. There are people and our community who lost their homes. There are people in our community who today. We'll try to figure out. Not just what am I gonna try to have for dinner tonight how we're gonna pay for. What I gonna do about the power. You're trying to get my kids at Christmas and I just got the bill what are what am I gonna do. And don't get me started. On medical bills. I can tell you a story that would make your hair -- And then just yesterday of storms somebody about the side. When it comes to medical I don't know. I'll just do the best I can't. But I'm not at the point of quiet desperation. To come to work every day still trying to you all the other things I do outside of work. You do the best you can do but. But I think dean -- struck something here when he compares. Where we are aware were headed. To the old Soviet bloc. Where people you know went into parts of the world and they were shocked if they -- loaf of bread on the shelf. So. I know sometimes people say -- -- this is so depressing wanted to you know give me something that's of lifting the united. Of course more than anybody else I talk about face and can I get a mixed review on that most days. I think that is the ultimate answer but boy you need these unemployment figures come out and people will be so duped by them. Were the lowest rate since 1978. When it comes to people even participating. In the job force now that's that's worth a discussion about where you are in your life and what you think about all this so. Let's do that Eric is in Spartanburg and up first this hour hi. I gross may well. -- Thank you for all the servers you. That you and dedicated to. Solos here in -- and Argentinian. I continued traits reunion clearly ignorant thank you. And your health problems -- Go to looks like I can't. Last August couple times and the -- soldiers. The story there that know us and I've gone through. Inner jobs situation room and working as a senior and Larry and she was unjustly. Fired and we believe that it is because. I -- believe sure conservative beliefs. And so. And it what what operators happening news. -- fascist system. That's coming down to Washington has. Has creep through the local level everywhere around the country and and -- -- is being implemented in people's views are being stomped out then they're being persecuted because of their views. And can't believe they don't they don't do that through this stop their. At this -- Beers -- -- I don't see any other way I don't say anywhere although it. Well every day in my life I think we get closer to what I called critical mass that goes I said a few years back guy. I don't have a crystal ball but I just couldn't see it going any other way that that you get to a point. When people just get so desperate it and they take to the streets. And so I don't I I I hope and pray. That that doesn't happen. But in all honesty what what else is gonna happen that would prevent it. I don't see anything on the rise and politically that's gonna change the mess were in. And further believe that. This movement this fascist movement is being -- it's women in politics. Gays in politics. Here in Black America. They're they're hiding they Communists are hiding behind these special interest groups. And -- who. Through there agenda. No -- is certain when you say women what do you mean by that. Well you look at -- please know we learned that there are. There are not being held accountable for their actions up -- in the high places. Are you totally like Hillary Clinton Hillary Hillary garden now to barrier just you have no idea what you're talking about there. A sanctuary but I appreciated Ross what is up lifting is that there is this is an election year and we can elect conservatives and job creators and office. You know. I would like to believe didn't. But I gotta be honest we I I don't believe that. I mean I said in the last presidential election somebody brought a dissenting and assets. But we don't have a conservative on the ballot. -- -- We are simply at the point of complete frustration it seems there are no answers only issues. And the country seems intent on looking at everything to a liberal media mindset. I attended the common core forum last night I care. But I don't see a way to really affect change Russell we're not know much. We are defeated. Because most of us feel that the majority. Doesn't really give a blank. Plus all these things are important to stick to your guns tell us how to change this. I wish I had the answer -- I work over 45 to fifty hours a week I'm a blue collar worker and 37. I used to think hard work would get me ahead now I feel hard work just gets me more hard to work and I never feel. Today that I have my head. Above water. That track record in people it did me and it's got a joke. Right now and 25 quick break back with more. This is their Russ -- show. I don't care how hard you worked how successful you bin. And you you get hit with some of the medical bills like my family's been hit with -- somebody I got into the Fort Worth I don't I don't think you can make can save enough money. President Obama's gonna take it away from you one way or the other. And enter and all of a sudden you're you're one. Heart attack. Or one diagnosis of cancer away. From from you know being Bancroft I I think the last time I looked. -- unexpected medical bills are the number one cause of bankruptcy in the country right now. Well. We. But -- -- -- little -- well and a million dollars labor or are. To be a lot of money. Oh yeah but between. The spot market pressure in critical bill. -- -- Well blow -- stupid joke dude -- being laid off one at a -- I don't live and another part of the personal -- 200 they have the reward our economy -- there there are third up. People we didn't do -- bit bit of wiggle out of buddy over older people. Well I wait here comes this dirt brittle like slowly at -- -- you see all the -- -- all -- well past the -- Yeah or if you are in -- if you won't put up any resistance don't you dare even attempt to nullify obamacare because if you do. Then we're gonna turn the faucet off day and you're not you're exactly right your name doing it so no wonder people. Are frustrated anyway Tony thank you so much but in in in its one thing for guys who were. You know as -- as Tony about. You know what I worry about the most. Really I mean I've. I've had a good life I've been more successful than I ever thought I would ever be in my wildest dreams. So you know whatever it is -- this stages is what it is. Our recruits people. Let me see what I mean your house. Ballot almost limitless and an hour ago the new unemployment rate came out and is down six point 7% we find out that the reason is down is because more more people record number of people. Urges dropping out of the workforce. Mis matched the lowest level since 197862. Point 8%. That's that's the only that's the percentage of adults in the country who are still in the labor force. But listen to this young people if you look at something which I've learned about when these Labor Department figures come out called U six unemployment rate. And what this U six number does it actually includes those who have given up looking for work so what's the real unemployment number. If you look at it I'm looking at right now for eighteen to 29 girls. You know with the unemployment rate is its fifteen point 9%. Fifteen point 9%. If you look at the U three unemployment rate for eighteen to 29 year olds. Nine and a half percent. So. If you look at the declining. Labor force participation rate. It is created an additional. One point eight million younger adults that are not counted as unemployed by the Department of Labor because they're not in the labor force. Meaning that those young people have given up looking for work. -- are aware of these young people gonna do. They do you look at them the breakdowns. You look at African Americans eighteen to 29 years old U six is 24 point 2%. No I know we have disagreements. That we talk about on this program we know about Obama and in the liberals and all that counts stuff but that's us hard cold number. You know -- if you're an African American parent of a young person eighteen to 29 years old. And all of this has gotten you a real unemployment rate of 24 point 2% I think you'll be ticked off. You you folks or is Hispanic. We may disagree about immigration all the concept. Don't the U six unemployment rate for eighteen to 29 year old Hispanics know that number is. It's sixteen point 8%. Politics is politics I get that we do we target these are real this is the real. America right now. And you're gonna go out there. And continue to support people. Who had given you this. Have you lost your brain have you lost your ability to even -- isn't. And analyze it think this is what you want. This what you voted for. In the problem with these incredibly high numbers. Historically high numbers. Is is is there are are there better days the analysts. Give me one single reason other than god almighty and haven't come back. That you received that. They didn't sign that this is gonna improve and don't give me all the Republican Party. They helped contribute to this problem. By continuing to spend money that we don't have. -- -- -- -- I gained 48 let's go to Jack can Pickens Jack thank you for waiting. It is I'm -- -- hope you war. Love love Jerry he's sorry about people are listen now or called rebel positions shot remark you mentioned American people wherever and continue to work. Are all into their later years -- since his retirement. You have all there's a lot of Japanese -- were present approach -- Wall Street get rid taller older employers. And so you know that it's a fight just keep your job. Our own bit in places like very even are you doing a good job at a launch ever go to Europe older employee. Com but the real reason -- called. Was. Word it would do anything different what many of this are until we get rid of all of the millionaires. -- Washington did you see the study they did already had that and almost all of the ones in the congress are millionaires. Majority are I think it's fifty what was number 5354%. So it's a majority it's. It's it's over half. Of our members of congress are millionaires. Right well I would imagine the other portion is. Probably somewhere in between. There's not a war in other words. Then I imagine what goes -- up there is you know you watch writing about -- shores. You know and that's -- give this sister on this topic they're looking up for the little rent. All of the people on the street so we're gonna have to get rid of all of them and start over again we're never gonna get -- anywhere. How do you get rid of all of them I mean think about that Jack how do you get rid of all of them when consistently you go to vote. And on the ballot is either a liberal. Or somebody who fakes being a conservative and -- and is -- our soul is a liberal. Then then what are you do to get people. Our. Just stepped up. Have -- in -- stepping up we got people stepping up against Lindsay Graham but you are these major party works. Yesterday that that doesn't national chamber of commerce. Basically came out -- -- did. And declared war on the Tea Party saying. The the national chamber of commerce they're gonna go win. Any incumbent and that I'm thinking they're talking about South Carolina that as a serious challenger from a Tea Party type they're gonna go win and destroy. The Tea Party candidate with their power and with their money. Well I've just have what's called lists contract. Well they did they are. Well then Karl Rove Karl Rove and in his organization. They've declared war on eighty Tea Party candidate where we beat the British perfectly ability they're a the British. I I -- the British your -- compared to what we're up against now. True but -- we can do it it is just like old enough votes. Well. I appreciate your optimism Jack thank you so much. -- a couple of things here Ross if you believe -- I do that the stock market is artificially stimulated by the Fed. Then all it would take for complete meltdown financially is one word from Obama to the Fed chief. To stop and all hell will break loose so -- wouldn't surprise me one bit of Obama's already threatened the Republican leaders and you know what if Obama does it. He'll blame the Republicans and the mainstream media will go along -- it. That's the damocles sword. Hanging over the Republican leaders neck I don't think that's all of a job. -- perhaps we have all reach the no end in sight phase in America that's not a good sign. -- I'm with you the system is completely broken develop bogged -- ballot box doesn't work we -- bill elect the best conservatives. They'll either fall into the trap of DC corruption or be neutered or destroyed by the good old boys we need to complete overhaul. Before we lose the country the problem really is the system. Dominated by the two major parties. You've heard me say that for a long talk. -- quiet desperation yes but quiet no may cost me my last part time job but I will not go silently. We will not comply. And then this. The rich white people created the world where they control who works and who doesn't so stop trying to blame Obama. When he's trying to solve the problem. Unfortunately greed is a powerful. Force that is difficult to defeat. I would challenge that texture. To call protects me back and name one way that Obama really is trying to solve the problem Obama. Is the problem. 9539. Davis talking. Gina in Spartanburg morning Gina. Morning. Are you buying.
